never tried a zipstrip (though they are undoubtedly the right tool for the job based on opinion here) - my multitool has a blunt blade / scraper thingy on it and i use that to strip the vane and clean the shaft if im not using wraps

Good job too. I'm afraid it isn't OK - Rule 202

"....The arrows of each competitor shall be marked on the shaft with the competitor's name or initials and all arrows used for the same end of 3 or 6 arrows shall carry the same pattern and colour(s) of fletching......"

Ok - thx phz for making me realise a blunter blade might actually be better, and ty hooktonboy for info re: tournament fletchings - perfect timing btw as I'd just paused after fletching the bare ones and came to pc to check about that!

Well then it's a completely false economy isn't it to spend "a small fortune" on your arrows and then ruin them by gouging the carbon? A Zip Strip might cost the price of a decent arrow but it's a very important bit of kit and will last you a lifetime of shooting and contribute immeasurably to your performance through good arrow maintenance.
