There may be a course running in Dumfries and Galloway later this year. Probably held in th Dumfries/Castle Douglas area.

PM me for/with contact details.

Iain.

I attend my level 2 tutor's course in acouple of weeks. I sincerely hope what you are saying is not right. The 'old' method may have had its faults but at least there was a time restriction on when you could register to become a coach (2 years GNAS membership) and you couldn't get to the next grade until you'd been 'in the job' for at least 3 years.

As has been said so many times before on this, and other forums, GNAS coaches have a dreadful reputation in the main and it is my understanding that these courses have been designed , in part, the redress this. The other, greater part, I understand is to get the funding to redesign the course in the 1st place.

I would hope that there is a minimum entry reqirement, over and above a Level 1 certificate for entry onto a Level 2 course.

Colin - these are UK courses designed to create "parity" in coaching across all sports. So entry requirements will I guess be laid down outwith archery and will be the same in all sports.

It would be interesting to guest on other sports boards and see if all their moans and gripes are the same as the ones voiced here

For the sake of discussion have a look at this link once and look at the entry requirements for football coaches...

Probably when we have the resources and money the FA have to throw behind this.

Oh - and when archers are willing to pay those sort of prices for a coaching course and ultimately coaching.
I have recently been approached to run a L1 course. Candidates are being asked to make a donation of £10 towards the cost of assessors and venue hire but it is sort of assumed I will run the course for free!!!

Whenever it is - I will probably be busy

Andy
