| I like to let my sight ring float about the gold. If I try to keep it there for too long, then I over aim and the results are not so good |

But yes, the sight should float about in the gold.

| what sort of sight pin do you use? if you use a flu pin or a small dot to aim with it can lead to overaiming. i used to have that problem until i switched to the beiter pin with circle frame inserts. essentially using a ring means that you are placing a big ring on a big ring rather than a tiny dot right in the centre, and it's much easier! and it's in no way less accurate - i shot my pb with the ring. and last night robin hooded one of my arrows though slightly less chuffed about that

| I sight just below the gold, as I draw the bow naturally moves up putting my sight onto the gold so i dont worry about aiming onto the gold till i'm at full draw. Only been shooting 6 months so I may be wrong but it works for me ![]() |

| I was having trouble with a apin as said above so i switched to a ring and was told to look at the gold and the brain will do the rest. somthing to do with aligning concentric circles about the brain being good at it and if you just look where you want the arrow to go the sight will follow. Dont try and get it dead centre its almost impossible just come up to anchor and make sure the sight floating around the gold somewhere and loose yu cant do much else.

| I understand floating on the gold once at full draw. What I'm curious about is what is happening as I drawthe string. That is if I first sight on gold when my bow arm is up, and then draw directly back. |

| oh... i don't shoot like that (anymore) i mearly spot the target and then draw and only aim with the last few mm or expansion before my clicker goes

| There are many great archers on here that will give you the whys and wherefores - but if you want to bring your arm up, sight on gold, and maintain that 'sighting' through the entire draw then you are asking an awful lot IMHO. If someone has the method to do this then please share!

And don't worry about holding still in the spot, it's almost impossible to freeze there. My mate just aims to steer the natural movements into circles in the spot. Another tip he got from an Olympic pistol shooter was to come down into the centre slowly from above. Raising the arm up in the final adjustment creates tensions.
