Spine how much difference in position

Hi all,

Only had time to chuck 2 ends down at club last night with a stiff button just out of interest. The unfletched were about 5" to the right of the fletched (540 navs 31.5" 38lb from winnex limbs, majesty string... someone will want all the details ). Anyone played about with different spine arrows off a stiff button and can give some idea of how much affect a spine or 2 difference makes on the distance between the fletched and unfletched ?

I mixed in some 430 ACE's with 120gnpoints and the unfletched landed about 8" left of the fletched which they themselves were slightly further left than the navs. I knew they were going to be too stiff.

18m. Surely someone must have compared a couple of different spined arrows off the same bow with a stiffy. OK if not different spines then how about after taking say 10gns off.

I did a little test a couple of weeks ago.
I had a couple of sets of ACE, one were 570's with inserts, the other are 520's with 110gn points. I shot both fletched and unfletched. I found that with a stiff (matchstick) button the 570's were about a foot weaker than the 520's fletched, and that the unfletched 570's were weaker still by about another 6 inches and the 520's were more or less with the fletched group.
The Easton chart actually suggested that the 570's were the boys for me, but my tests found the 520's a better bet. Could be that my bow scales are out by a bit, or that there are other factors that are effecting the arrows performance, like the strings I'm making.

Cestria... what length arrows and what poundage are you pulling ?? Tempted to get some 470 ACE's but know I shouldn't . Should have tried harder to get that new set of shafts that were on ebay a few weeks ago. Suppose one of you beat me in the auction.

Hi Bird
My arrows are cut at 28.25ins + points to make it just about 29.125ins in total. My bow scales say that I hold 43lb on my 68" Apex, however a well respected performance coach had a session with us a week ago, and in his opinion he thought it felt 2 or 3lb heavier. He watched my arrows fly and with a bare shaft test he suggested I go for 470's with full 120gn points if I wanted to spend the money.
Hope this helps.
