centre serving

hi
My centre serving has become loose which in turn means that my knocking points are moving up and down the string. I think I need to replace the serving. Is this easy to do??
Any help would be great.

It is not a difficult thing to do, but as with anything - practice makes perfect. Try out the following:

Yes, it is fairly easy to serve the string again. It is easy to watch someone and copy what they do. If that isn't possible try this;

If you are going to try it yourself- First make a note of your proper nock height!

then very carefully take a craft knife to either end of the serving, being careful not to cut into the strands of the string material..unwind it onto a spool of some desciption....and you'll get away with using the same piece of serving material again.
but do take a look at how to start and finish the serving before you go any further.
good luck!
s'easy really.

Replacing a centre serving is pretty easy - providing you have access to a winder of course!

You won't even need a string jig. Just string up your bow as normal and use this as your jig. If you make a mistake just unwind and start again.

You could, of course, get your local shop to do the job for you but it's much more fun if you give it a go yourself.

Good advice, except 30mBull already said "my knocking points are moving up and down the string"

Thanks for your reply.
I am a little unclear about setting the knocking point. I have just read that I should set the top knock 1/2 inch above the line of the arrow rest but surely this depends on the shaft size of the arrow that is being used.
Does this make sense?
