i know when my coach was competing competitively he had two sets of arrows, one for clear calm days and one for windy,
i'll have to ask for further info regarding set ups but he may read this and post himself at a later date,

I don't know about arrow spine, but I remember watching Steve Hallard at Colchester fita star, and he had a set of spinwings and a set of straight vanes set up, and changed between the two from one day to the next...

Not sure what we can conclude here? I did the same once simply because everybody on my target was shooting spin wings of my colour so I changed to my practice arrows to be able to see where they went (which I'm sure does gain me points).

Thanks for the update gtek - I have an old magazine that was published in UK/Europe (I think it was called Archery World?) back in the early 80's. The first (or maybe 2nd issue of this had an interview with both Pace and McKinney following their 1341 and 1329 Japan records.

I hope I still have it somewhere - I'll dig it out and see what was said (well reported anyway!!).

I think its time for OB to write a book. The man has a wealth of knowledge that, along with with some anecdotes and jokes, would make seriously good read for many archers.

Many have asked me to write a book..and believe me..it would be a very different kind of archery book..but it would still have tech tips etc. As I'm trying to get to shoot for G.B., maybe when I'm successful in that ambition and *had enough* of getting up early for shoots..then maybe..just maybe.

my theory is a good light fast set for still calm conditions and a thin but heavier set for windy conditions,hopefully less drift form teh wind, but unfortunatley my finances only dictate one set at the moment, fast light cos i live in paradise lol

Unfortunately in this country it can be dead calm for one end and blowing a gale the next. Sometimes it can depend the target you are on.

I am open to new ideas - on arrows I want the most stability, least drift my money can buy in windy conditions - on calm days these arrows fly even better as I would expect they should.
