One of the problems with paid coaching is insurance.
AFAIK if I took payment to coach someone I would not be covered by GNAS insurance and would have to get additional cover. I would then have to make enough money to make the additional cover worth while.

all professional coaches are advised to have their own insurance, it is not that expensive

Makes you think, doesn't it?
Plus VAT... Really?

If you are a qualified and current GNAS coach then you would be able to charge and be insured PROVIDED that coaching is not your principle income; however, I believe that you would also need to be an officer of your own club even if coaching at another.

i currently pay for coaching from a GMB archer on the county squad. i pay about £20 a session, which lasts about 5 hours. i go to his house once every few weeks for these, so can afford it pretty comfortably. been shooting compound only a few months, and am verging on county standard.

payment for coaches is fine, but be selective on the coach =)

I have just completed a coach course and that is what we have been told by the tutors.

i would gladly pay a reputable archer for coaching, and one or two coaches... Unfortunately the things i found out in lilleshall this wekend...some of which ,due to the nature of the item. / coach involved i cant repeat it.

one thing though the coaching issues are countrywide. but people feel obligated to go to squads etc, because they want to shoot for counties, / national teams...

heard a senior coach ask for some glue to put a juniors fletchings back on , person offering the glue also offered a fletching jig..... must be one good senior coach ....as he said no thanks i'll put them on by hand. i think he now has wavy eston shield fletchings.

one day i may write a book.......my sons would end up loaded.

book names on a postcaed...

comedy of errors
earnest in archery.
coaching as seen by an individual
death by coaching

sorry just got to done
