Ok, thanks. I'll add it to my book of archery myths, misinformation and legends.
Not because its necessarily untrue, but because I never heard this one. "Someone else told me" isnt proof.
Do I put it in the big chapter "coaching" or the huge chapter "gnas insurance".

I would hapilly pay up to £25 per hour for good coaching. I would, however, need to see the coaching credentials and a history of success with archers at the level to which I aspire.

So the message to coaches is to go get some credibility, then think about charging. And as ASW says, coaching insurance doesn't need to be expensive.

1. GNAS county coaches but I'm not putting names up for slaughter here.
2. Yes!

The description of cover was; however, very explicit and we went over it a couple of times as it is often an assessment question we were told.

Perhaps someone (maybe a senior coach?) can put a definitive description of cover up here for all to see rather than Not Dead Yet's cryptic and unhelpful moan.

I don't know everything... I never shall know everything... Always willing to learn...

Actually it was this last bit of Cimbian's quote that intrigued me.
"An officer of your own club"
What does that mean?
My own club has 9 coaches (didnt we do well)
How many officers can a club have? You cant mean electable positions on the committee as that would exclude non coach members from holding those positions.

So many "official" statements get warped, changed and misunderstood as they are passed from person to person.

sports caoch uk . their critria is you must be a coach registered with your governing body. £60 per year it was £30.

covers you for corporate days etc.

payment for coaching under GNAS must be minuted in the clubs minutes and the money to go in the clubs coffers.

you cannot earn money under GNAS insurance.

and by the way .golf coaches aren't tiger woods but they can par there own course.
race instrutors can do the biz.

so archery coaches should be atleast bowman to coach above intermediate.

the people that do archery coaching struture are defo on a different planet than anyother sports dicipline

My understanding is that fees received for have-a-go sessions and beginner courses are to be minuted and to go to the club's coffers but that coaching was outside of this provided that the coach is not operating in a professional capacity ie not making their primary living from coaching, otherwise where would the line be drawn when it comes to expenses? If my car cost 39p per mile to run including wear and tear and I charge 40p then by your definition I would not be insured; correct?

Surely someone has a definitive, chapter-and-verse answer to this.
