| Starting to loose enthusiasm Just recently i've been starting to really loose my enthusiasm for archery. I seem to come back from every session feeling depressed and wanting to set fire to my kit (despite all the issues being mine as far as i can tell) because my outdoors shooting hasn't just stayed still (that i could live with).. it seems to have taken several hundreds steps the wrong way. I know that some of this is thanks to a rather interesting clash of opinion between me and my club captain, but that should only really be a small part of it seeing as i hardly shoot with him at the moment

| *hug* Cheer up, Rhodri. I know how you feel. I think a lot of people do. But this game (and life) if full of peaks and troughs. Hang in there and you'll be on the upswing again.

| Sorry to hear you're feeling that way.Try remembering why you took up archery, presumably because it was fun and you enjoyed it.

| I went through a similar thing about 2 months ago. My solution was to buy a cheap one peice of ebay and have a go at shooting barebow field archery. I decided to shoot totally instinctively and had no expectations of doing any good just happy if I got near the target. I found it great fun and it brought back some "lightness" to what was getting too serious to be enjoyable. Its cured me totally, I am happy shooting target compound again and have also kept on shooting barebow field for fun only I have switched to barebow compound. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| Just take a step back and re look at your goals for the year maybe they are unrealistic and putting too much pressure on you. Set some lesser goals with shorter timescales that will help you get back on track. Problems with your club - simple find somewhere else to shoot Remember this is only a sport/passtime even at the top to put it in perspective look whats happening in Burmah. If somebody ever thinks they are too important, tell them to put their hand in a bucket of water and then take it out again. The lasting impression left in the water shows how important they really are. York is right maybe a short break will also help. |

| Have a crack at something different... If you shoot target then have a go at field, or vice-versa. Find a clout you can get to. Try some retail therapy in you nearest archery shop! Just don't give it up.

| Now I'm green with envy, not being so young anymore....but when I was about your age - the world was my oyster...there were a million things I could do, ten million things to try, I was on the edge of taking the world by storm...unleashing myself upon it... there was nothing I could not do...I could turn my hand to anything and acheive success....I was fighting above my weight -and winning! I needed satisfaction, recognition, adventure and I guess a million other things too, to feel complete...to push my own boundaries, to challenge...to WIN It was a phase, a healthy, natural phase of my life that left me bored as hell with what I was doing regularly...feeling like I was missing something - it was a complete distraction...a feeling like the whole world wasn't keeping pace with me...really very frustrating. but that was me.... you are (of course) - YOU but if there's a flicker of what This old guy Was, In YOU, then I'd suggest you find something new, a new challenge, face a new fear, You don't have overcome and win in this new venture - it's just for fun- just for kicks..... Just For BALANCE...an area of your life that 'doesn't matter'- is enjoyable But of no real strain- something totally different to what you are currently doing. An extra interest, in which you can be something other than the competitive sportsman that you are so much of the time. With everything on your side, youth, strength, time and little or no fear in life, perhaps you shouldn't walk away from the obvious talent you have with a bow....maybe you're just developing all round...and need a new pastime, something just to relax in- something to 'spread your head around'. But what do old folk know? | |||||||||||||||||||||||

![]() I *have* been meaning to start writting again.. but i've had a massive case of writters block for the last year (well 11 months to be exact) maybe after lectures i should get some from the spa and go to the beach and just sit down and write something(off topic: just looking at two points i have to put back into arrows.. and they're magnitised... bit random seeing as they're on my desk next to my keyboard)
