Huge improvement in GNAS coaching

I have just become aware of a HUGE improvement in GNAS coaching system!

Level1 coaches now get a REALLY GROOVY PIN BADGE.

Its the GNAS logo with the word(s) "Level1" underneath.

How cool is that!

6 level1 coaches from my club all passed their assessments over 9 months ago have just received their certificates AND THESE GREAT BADGES!

I hope theyll do the same for Level2s when that comes properly on line and that the "club" coaches who do the 1/2 day downgrade to Level2 get one too!

it is nice to see that those who start out on their coaching activities are continually belittled by others due to a system that they have little or no control over.

Is tere a week goes by without sniping on the coaches/coaching?

nope!! Your point is exactly the job that meddler & co have to battle against... after all, coaching is for the benefit of archers, but if they *think* there are flaws in the system then those need to be identified and worked on. Introducing the different levels (my opinion) was a step to try to make coaching a structured service so you can see what you are getting!

I genuinely think the badges are great. As a club coach I didnt get one.
Sorry if my posting came across as less than genuine

I am a level1 tutor, mentor and accredited assessor, support 6 level1 coaches in my own club as well as others and though I have gripes with parts of the system, in general support it fully (mostly)

Sadly though it is much easier to have an "opinion" on the internet and then ram it down the throats of others while not actually contributing to the system and trying to effect actual change that would be a benefit to all.

Things don't change if new blood doesn't get involved at all levels from club, through County, Region and National.

Since it's monday and I'm declaring it 'be postive about gnas coaching week' I'll not rise to that one
Actually, I'm going to only post positive things about coaching and gnas in general this week

are you saying we should all become coaches?? I'm not prepared to give the time & energy for that at this point in my archery... I am however, currently supporting deadeye doc who is doing his level 1 coaching and have assisted with our current beginners course (overseen by a coach)

there is a lot of new blood getting involved - that is clear to see but it is also the reason (criteria to start level 1) for much of the moaning.

those arguments aside... maybe the response to grimbsy archers original thread were done under the pretext of knowing the situation in that club.... does everyone lose their sense of humour on this forum when certain subjects are mentioned??? ever thought that maybe there are so many threads on coaching that humour (albeit warped possibly... or not to your liking) is all thats left to cover old ground??

maybe in this part of Yorkshire we look for the funny side of things so we can have a laugh at it... the topics are still discussed, probably more so as it is light hearted but covering a multitude of sins.

rant on stand by... coffee needed
