Draw fingers trouble

Heya people

I've been experiencing a very weird problem in my draw fingers lately(past 2 days). I can't exactly put a word to it, but it seems to be something like a lack of strength in the fingers. Its that weakness you get when you laugh so hard you can't even grab a pen and write properly. Its almost the exact same feeling. I couldn't keep my hand clenched for long without much effort. Even pulling arrows was a problem. But the main issue was that I couldn't get my fingers to stay bent long enough. Just as I hook the string, I could feel a slight tingle already. While drawing the bow, as the weight on fingers increase, the sensation becomes amplified. Before I even reach anchor, I had to put down the bow because it feels as if my fingers were going to slip off the string.

I didn't think much of it at first, as I was indeed laughing away before I was shooting. But the next day, the same thing happened. (yes I laughed too lol) But even when I was not laughing anymore and totally focusing on my shooting, that feeling was still there. I couldn't even shoot a single arrow properly so after 2 days of the same issue, I'm starting to get concerned. Any ideas anyone?

Hey I'm just a compounder so don't even use my fingers on the string, but just had to sympathise. Hope you can get this one sorted. Approximately 11 years ago now I had a trapped nerve issue that gave me pain whenever I tried to draw my bow - eventually this led to me heading to the dark side where I've lived happily ever since. But obviously I was doing something wrong to get that symptom in the first place and maybe you need to look at how you hold the string or use your string hand also. Maybe you need a tab with more layers to it. I admit I'm not really qualified to say though, hope others can give you some better advice and best of luck with resolving this.

There are quite a few things that can cause finger weaknesses ranging from simple colds to things like hypokalaemia (too little potassium). As with all medical problems you should go along to see a doctor and get it checked out properly - if in doubt I would always see a professional.

If the problem persists, I'd definitely seek medical advice. Just wondering if anyone experienced this and if they know how to solve it.

i was tightening my tab too much, and developed a strange "dead" feeling in my finger which tingled after awhile. I was told that it was nerve damage, so I changed my tab, and don't tighten up so much. Problem has dissapeared. Maybe something similar with you.

If it's the same thing that I'm thinking of, does it make you feel like laughing when the feeling begins again? With me it is similar to the feeling of anticipation when expecting to be tickled. There is no pain with it, yes?

Nerves, circulation, mineral levels...

Could be something... Could be nothing, but I would suggest that this forum is unlikely to be the best place for a meaningful answer... Stop shooting, get to your GP ASAP... and then tells us what he/she said.

Oh! and good luck!

Totally agree! That's the best advice going, so take it.

Yup its more or less as you decribed. Theres no pain, just a lack of strength in the fingers.
