| lesser of two evils assuming coaching isnt an IMMEDIATE option (and yes - i know that would be the proper answer) if you had a choice between the following which is the potentially less problematic ? 1 - bow elbow forced vertical and getting better feeling back use but bow shoulder feels like its high and being held in place by muscle power with the satbility and fatigue issues that might create ? or 2 - bow elbow left in its natural position (45 degrees from vertical) with all the potential clearance issues that implies and better feeling (lower and more stable) bow shoulder but not so good feeling in the back ? slainte : rob

| Elbow at 45, don't force it. Read Heretic Archer. ![]()

| Agreed. Don't force it. Force=bad. Your elbow angle and clearance probably aren't as bad as you think in any case...

| yeah leigh - over the last week or two ive been systematically trying various things my original stance was 'half open' - front foot about half a foot behind the back one and open to about 30 degrees have tried various options between closed and open and have settled for a 'fully' open stance (pretty much as KSL / ASW recommend in their respective guides) slainte rob

| front arm clearance: rear elbow position is a symptom not a cause. major cause is bow hand position, then side anchor. Bow hand issue also leads to moving wrist during draw which will drive front shoulder issues. Stance has absoluteley no effect on bow arm clearance unless it alters alignement by accident
