| Ive just spend the whole of Sunday doing this and trying different things to see where I was going wrong. I had problems with my front shoulder position, my anchor, my release because my use of back tension wasn't right, and while I was trying to understand and correct all this I should have been aiming. Blank bossing in a competition at 80 yds will looses you points kids, believe me. |

| No, I don't. If it's during a shoot I concentrate on relaxing my hands and forearms. If it's a long standing problem then I check my draw length. These are the 2 biggest areas of problem for me.

| Usually happens to me when I'm focusing too much on score. Solution is to think FORM (I literally say the word to myself before each shot) - so of all the things you list I would go for stance, both before and after the draw. I think if you're using the right muscles and have good alignment then the other elements of the shot also seem to improve - at least that's how it works for me (shooting >2 years). |

| On a more serious note; I go back to checking my drawlength is right (i.e. am I committing to it positively enough or does the clicker need moving?) and then making positive shots.

| If I don't already know that it was poor back tension or a fluffed release (and I can often tell, albeit a fraction of a second too late ) then I try to remember a) whether I had relaxed my shoulder first; b) whether I had anchored at the right place; and c) whether I had held the bow upright. If the next arrow goes wild despite my paying some attention to those three, I wonder how on earth it got there . | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| after reading these posts.... for pete's sake shoot your damn arrows. your all thinking toooo much. concentrate on the arrow in the bow your only lookin at the X ring. brings me back to the person that says...i had an eight that end , or a five. no you didn't you had two tens....think positive people say to me you have no back tension, recurve or compound. after looking into it . its not that i have no back tension its just my shoulders are together so there is nowhere for my release arm to go rearwards. any case as soon as you have moved your fingers 1/4" the arrow has actually left the bow. (got this on vid) back tension . dead loose. whats the difference. if you practice enough they WILL go in the X ring |
