Thanks again, Erika. I am clear about this in my mind now. And thanks to the others who have helped, too.
Cheers

The longer serving archers I think would be even greater, Mine is 40 + which is why when having not shot for a while I need a quick revision. How do I shoot thee? Let me count the ways.

40 + Nay I didn't have time for more than 3 - load, pull, shoot. With an Evolution it just had to flow good or it wasn't gone.

Hi! Geoff.....The question you raised about stage 1…. becoming stage 2….. I’d say the point when the draw starts is the separation of the two. Up to that point the process of checks has been corrected if need be, so as to make the pre-alignment correct and ready to enter stage 2. Stage 2. is probably more of a fixed discipline, that again like 1 remains the same but the precision involved will indicate if stage 1. was right.
Once again phase one is details such as, seating the bow hand, is the little finger pointing correctly? is the draw hand correct, and other small things like relaxation etc. It is a bit like making yourself mimic a shooting machine and the more precise the checks, the nearer the possibility...
Hope that explains better....

Paul...

Thanks again, Paul.
So, you check the details before the draw. Then as you draw that confirms how well you had checked the pre-draw; a sort of double check. Is that right?
If nothing alerts you to a problem, the draw continues and the arrow is shot.

What it adds up to Geoff is that most of the technique is not adjustable once the draw is started. To make alterations after the draw, means applying tension to do so, ie. seating the bow hand correctly. Therefore pre-draw preperations are vital.....

Thanks again, Paul for all your clarifications. I was fairly sure from the first of your posts, that we thought the same way about most of this. I hadn't understood some details properly, but with your patience, I see exactly what you mean, and we do agree.
The part of my question, that I needed most help with, was whether the release could be blamed for a poor shot, or just the build up to it.
My current bad patch needs to be put right. With the help from this thread I now know that I need to sort out the preparation.
Thanks again.
