Exclamation Free software!

A select few already know, but I've been writing a small piece of software (PC only I'm afraid), that takes your arrow's scores & gives you an estimate of your expected performance. You can read a little more about it in my journal, or just grab the zip file & play with it yourself.

I'm going to continue to tweak things (I have a a couple of bits in mind tonight), so although the link will remain the same for all releases you might want to check my journal to see if there are new things/bug fixes from time to time

sorry i blew your cover lc, but you can't keep these things hidden for too long round here

it's a great little program, will like it even more when I can get my damn excel scorecards to feed it, have all my portsmouth scores in it (over 1000 arrows), although it doesn't make for happy viewing

Just one question though, does it only work across one distance, or does it also return a valid result across 2+ distances?

Thumbs down One size fits all

If you feed it 2 distances it'll interpret them as one database & draw from all of the scores it's offered! i.e Single distance & face data only.

V2 (if it gets written) would have to have variable face & distance handling, but that would include teaching it all of the metric & imperial round options, so that it could estimate performance for a 4 distance 2 face size round.

Maybe you could run 4 instances, give them different data & see what you get

I've just done with 1.3.4, so it's uploaded in the usual place.

The nature of the beast is that the more arrow score you feed it, the better it knows you & the more reliable it becomes in estimating your potential.

Versionitis is settling now Clicki, although there might be a few features still to add & there seems to be at least a low level demand for V2 (to handle multi distance/face rounds). This is not imminent & will need a complete rewrite. To correct the statement previously though: I don't need to teach it all of the rounds - you can do that by selecting the data to go with each distance. Will still need a fair amount of rewriting for V2...

Does that mean that you don't get a numerical score, or merely imply that your numerical score is mainly determined by the course, rather than your ability? (I looked at this, so I could easily be wrong).

If neither apply significantly then you should be able to use the software regardless (it's only randomly selecting from the arrow values that you shot, after all).

As has been said before, it'll struggle to provide an integrated solution to multi distance/face size rounds... until the now much trumpeted V2.

Hi LineCutter, that set of rules applies to the PAA round indoor shoot - we (I) only shoot that once a year - the main IFAA site has a link to the full rules for all the rounds - I was being a bit flippant - apologies - mind you at my skill level the course does impact my score !! anyway I will grab the zip and see what I can do and let you know. Main point - a big thanks for taking the time and effort out to do some software for this and sharing it around.
