Archery Darts

Any techniques or tips for archery darts. My club has a friendly comp this week with a Chester club. I will have a paper copy of a dartboard on my person to show me where the numbers are, I know where 1, 18 and 20 are. I do have difficulty seeing arrows in the target. (Saw none on a Worcester, black arrows with black fletchings and nocks.) Should I take and use a monocular. The last one i shot out 150 with 3 bullseyes. Fatboys may not fit in the bullseye and linecutters won't count

Lightbulb Experience is the greatest of coaches

Sounds as though you're getting a bit serious. I'd just go and enjoy it.

Take the full time to shoot your three arrows...m

Darts players have a rhythm which is quite fast... Take your normal time to shoot your arrows, and you destroy the darts' players rhythm... They "cool down" mentally and you could be in with a chance.

Otherwise, allow them to double their scores... all the time... that way they can never get an out...

The value of the arrow scored depends on how much of the shaft is in the particular "bed". If more than 50% is in a scoring area, then that's the one that counts. If you can't make out which way it's going to go, then it has bounced off the wire...

We use archery darts to generate fun in our club. Once you have shot at the face you will realise that it is fun but not so easy as it looks.
One difficulty is the shape of the areas. we are so used to aiming at circles.
With aperture sights it's even more odd, as getting the "best fit" is not so natural. Doubles and trebles are easier for most people when the near- rectangle shape is landscape rather than portrait.
Having the sight set "somewhere close to correct" will loose several points. I know that sounds obvious but it is important when shooting at narrow rectangles. There seems to be lots to hit area wise but in fact there is not much to hit in one of the dimensions.
However, have fun.

We played this at practice the other day when only 4 of us made it, most having gone home for easter. We thought it'd take ages, but in actual fact only took us 40 mins to get a full game in (starting at 501). Was great fun, and not really that hard at all, apart from finishing on the right double, now that was tricky...

I'm still in the process of getting used to my clicker, and found it a great intermediate step from blank boss to a target, as you can't aim TOO hard, because the black and white makes your eyes go swirly

We play a knock out game called killer on a real dartboard when in the pub you could suggest it as an alternative to 501.

You pick a number (usually done with weak hand in darts, dunno how you'd replicate this))

You hit your number 3 times to get "killer" (a double counting as two hits etc) We use the letter "K" as it has three lines to draw it.

Then you proceed to knock the others out by hitting there number (You all have 5 lives) So five hits by another killer and your out (again treble counts as three hits).

Outer bull is 1 hit, inner is 2

we played 'round the clock' during our xmas fun shoot.....

we were split into two teams of 7 or 8...and took it in turns to loose one arrow and retire, when the last member had shot, the first stepped up again...

1 - 20, 25, bull

that was the only time when 4 successive arrows went where I wanted them to...

I can wind my sight recticule to a small diameter. The distance is 15 yards. I have my sight mark. I will just enjoy the experience.
