What are the GNAS guidelines for the supervision coaches?

I am a level one coach and would like to recoup some of the money it has taken to get me there. So I want to charge a fee for some of my coaching activities. If I do this then I'm not covered under the GNAS insurance. The answer is to become a member of Sports Coach UK (scUK) [http://www.sportscoachuk.org/improve/membership/].

Their membership will cover me... However on the membership form it states that level one coaches must be aware of their governing bodies supervision guidelines...

...so the question is - What are the guidelines in GNAS for the supervision of level one coaches?

I have rung GNAS and am awaiting a response. When I get it I'll post it up.

"Ideally" a Level 1 Coach is supervised by a more qualified Coach. In practice this may be supervision at arm's length... although how long the arm is, is anybody's guess.

Insurance companies may want to see a Leader's Certificate. And the daft thing about it is, that I could well be required to have a Leader's Certificate if I wanted to make a living at it. Me!?!?! I train and assess them...

The insurance Sports Coach UK offers does not require you to have a leaders certificate - you just have to operate under the guidelines of the governing body. So I should be ok

What is worrying it the rather vague term "Ideally" - I wouldn't like to be in court arguing either way - however where I plan to coach is at my mentors (a county coach) small holding - so I am loosely being supervised.

Is it me or do we put in 80% of our effort into getting details right

We were told on the Level-1 course that there was a hierarchy to the courses and Leader was the bottom. They also said they would provide a letter to any potential employer stating that Level-1 was better than Leader and therefore any requirement to be a Leader was met.

I run an archery coaching business with my Good Lady, I guess you could say that we are level 1 3/4 coaches. We are insured through scUK.
Amongst other archery related activities, we teach at schools, both evening classes (Adult) & also as part of the school program at a public school (after school clubs as well). These people are very fussy when we have to shoot indoors because of possible damage caused by arrows. But when you give them the rundown on how you will teach etc. no problem from either the schools in question or GNAS.
