Beat me to it, Joe! I was just about to post:

News: Cash boost for British Olympians
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/othe...12/4897538.stm
Quote:
UK Sport has awarded an extra £65.3m to Olympic and Paralympic events as a first step ahead of London 2012.
Summer Olympic sports are to receive an extra £58.8m up to 2008 and summer Paralympic sports will get £6.5m.
It means all Olympic sports other than ******** and tennis will receive at least £465,000 a year.
The article then lists specific sports. Of our sport it says:
Quote:
Archery
Funding '06-09: £2,371,000
% increase in '06/07 on existing award: 66%
Gold medals available: 4
Team GB Max Squad size: 6

it would be interesting to know how they decided which sport got how much whether it be how many golds are available or the size of the squad

Basis for funding and requirements to be met for sports to to actually get the money is detailed in the PDFs.

Medal probability the dominating factor.

I tried to figure out from the GNAS accounts where the "current" £1.4 million is going. I couldn't see it. I wonder if we will see any effect from the extra "66%"...

Have a look at http://www.uksport.gov.uk/images/upl...res_110406.pdf top of page 3. They are estimating 6 on the GB squad and an investment of £2,371,000 for an estimated possible 4 medals.

Ahhhh, I see. That's a total over 4 years. Makes more sense put that way. It still implies that current funding is to the tune of 450k+ last year, but I guess it's easier to lose that much in the GNAS accounts...
