TJ - win&win rests are fine. I've shot nothing else for years and don't have an issue with clearance - I suggest you look at a more fundamental level

Button being too soft is pointless - stiffen it up and move centershot in a bit if needs be. Make sure the shaft isn't also hitting the sight.

Clicker - you can buy purpose-made stick-on clickers, or any machine shop will tap a thread on the riser and recommend a suitable screw, alternative is the cavalier which mounts under the sight.

Archery World - tell his parents not to allow him to shop there unless he's with someone who knows what they're talking about (see other reviews of AW).

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll stiffen his button next time we meet and reiterate my previous instructions that he should not buy or set up equipment without advice.

Hello guys,
I have never used lipstick or powder as I've never got clearance issues. Sorry for asking such question but how do you use them? Do you apply them to the riser or to the fleching?

You can see minute traces in it and if you choose the right colour it contrasts with the riser, rest, fletchings and shafts. Don't let the wife find out, or the lads at the pub.
As I used to work in the engineering industry we used to use two parts to dye testing, a white powder spray, and a red dye. I used to spray the red dye into paper cup, and apply with a cotton bud, or little brush to the bow, shaft or fletchings etc.

Not so embarrassing as using "kreme"

Don't forget that arrow fouling can be caused by torque as well as by straightforward spine/rest/button issues. Have a look at his hand position and watch for a lot of movement of his arrow vs longrod as he draws.

I speak from very recent, very expensive experience - as in a completely unsuitable, brand new, set of X10's. Ooops!
