Bow Hand Slippage

This is something I have always had a problem with on wet days, and I suspect I'm not alone here. I have tried a number of solutions but most seem to introduce too much friction into the grip for my liking ( I like to slide my hand into position on pre-draw). But it is something that I am still looking for a solution to; the round I shot Sunday was a great example of why - St.George last 3 doz at 60y - 106, 104 (then it started raining) : 92.

So basically I was wondering what solutions other people use for this.

Hand slip can happen for two reasons;the way the hand is positioned and the grip of the bow itself.
Some grips are highly polished, others are rounded, both of these features make it more difficult to keep the hand where it is wanted.
My solution has always been to remove the "rounded" and the "polished"
There are different ways to achieve this, much depends on how far you are prepared to go.( some people will never do anything to the grip as it spoils the look of it; others will remove it and start again)
A simple way to get rid of the polished appearance is to put a thin strip of fabric tape(band aid, I think, but not the plastic version) on the part that faces you. This is easily removed if necessary. I use a narrow strip of leather which can be shaped to reduce the roundness too.
With regard to the hand position, a useful idea is to lubricate the grip sparingly. Put your hand into the grip and see where it slips to when you are in a shooting position. How the hand moves can indicate whether the hand position is in need of attention or where the grip is not helping.

I suffered from a sweaty right hand syndrome, in indoor competitions. When I wore a synthetic golf glove, this solved the problem. A brilliant solution outdoors in the wet. And it keeps yor hand warm also. Man made waterproof golf glovesare abot 3".50 upwards. Mine come from Aldi in black or white (no GNAS colour problem with white)

If your hand slips on a wet grip, then generally either the grip is the wrong shape or your hand position is wrong...

That said, people do take measures to stop slippage. Two of the more popular are racket grip tape (the stuff you wrap around) and skateboard grip tape. Be aware that the latter shares some properties with sand paper (people have been known to stick it to a work bench for use in cleaning small bits of metal!). I also picked up some grip tape from IKEA (safety tape for the edges of steps), which seemed similar. Maybe not quite as aggressive.

For a time, I had a layer of chamois leather on my grip (wrapped it round and slid it back into place). But it feels truely disgusting when it gets wet in the rain...

The fuzzy side of velcro is good, it doesn't grip you hand like racket tape can

I like what you say here; the racket tape and the skateboard tape are the solutions I have used already - don't like the feel of the racket tape and I do like the skateboard grip but can't get it to stick to my grip (made from car filler). I suspect the grip shape might be the best option for change, wrong time of year to play with things tho!

Look at pistol grips, they're kinda chequered - lots and lots of little ridges.

A hacksaw does the same very nicely to a grip, and you don't need to have them all that tightly packed so that it doesn't move much. It does feel a bit weird to start with but you soon don't notice...
