| Straightening arrows, help please Straightening arrows, has any one got any tips on straightening arrows using an arten arrow straightener? How far apart such the rollers be set and how do you avoid creating an s bend while straightening the first bend if the first bend is a long shallow bend? Many thanks , Mark |

| If you give the arrow a visual check to see what sort of bend you have to deal with or how many. With the rollers about 4" apart, try to find the straight sections.(some bends look longer than they really are;especially those near the middle) Start with the rollers as far apart as the longest bend. Try to get the pressure on the max position on the bend. Shorter bends can be dealt with separately and with the rollers closer together. I usually finish off with a short space between the rollers and re-check all the way from one end to the other.Try to squeeze gently and re-check, build up the pressure a little at a time until you manage to improve the bend. Too much pressure too soon can bend the arrow in the reverse direction, which weakens them a great deal. |
