Advice required please

What method or methods of bow tuning can be used by archers who are not consistent in grouping their arrows?
My own method is trial and error (error being the operative word!)
Surely it's no use attempting unfletched arrow or walkback tuning unless you can group consistently.

<font size="2">I think you've discovered Archer's Paradox II, Shawasha I think what you need to do is to set the bow up to the best of your ability, put the target 5-10 meters in front of you and then start tuning from there and see what happens. Of course, if there's absolutely no consistency in your shots then you really need to concentrate on that before trying to tune your bow.</font></p>

Have to agree with Dave. Just work on your form and technique, tuning can wait till you can shoot fairly consistantly.

RE: Advice required please

No matter how big the group it always has a centre.
Suggest setting the button spring at around 50% compression.
Put the sight pin so it lines up with the string and centre of limbs.
Shoot with the visual image of the string running through the centre of the pin - say at 30 metres
If the arrow group is to the right of target centre screw button out (arrow pile moves away from bow)
If the arrow group is to the left of target centre screw button in.
Aim is to get the arrow spread centred on the middle of the target.
When done above shoot normally and move pin position until arrow spread is again centred on the target.

Nocking point position less important- set at 1/4"-3/8" above square and for the time being forget it.

RE: Advice required please

sounds like sound advice(feildarcher+joetapley)but if they are always all over the place then its probably you(sorry)since if it was the bow they would still have some consistecy even if its bad.a good regular and steady shot method from you counts for a lot.still wot do i know,im still really a begginer too,and hardly a top class one!!

RE: Advice required please

Again the best advice I can give you (and I seem to be saying this a lot) is to log onto www.easton.com and download their tuning guide. These are the people that make the arrows they know what they are talking about. As for the advice on the nocking point that is a no no. the nocking point is always what you should sort out first. It's effect on the rest of the bow tune can be dramatic and its all to do with the arrow nodes and their contact with with the button. It's all in the tuning guide , read it and seek clarification on any points you are not sure of before proceeding

I hate to be harsh, but tune yourself first use your club coach that is why he/she is there. when you get your form together, then is the time to think of tuning the bow (If it needs it) You may have developed some bad habits (as we all do) & got them so deeply ingrained, that you know of no other shooting method. Go back to basics, start again, and be patient. I wish you all the best

RE: Advice required please

There is one other possibility if you know some one of similar stature you could get them to have a go to get it roughly right.

Difficult to reconcile those two statements

See the Glossary entry for Node.
