to get slightly back on topic but at a tanagent, how do you guys actualy remove brass knocking points wtihout destroying the string?

i initially tried prising them apart with a knife but that wasnt gonna work. then i tied to prize them apart with two pairs of pliers. i ended up using a file on the side oposite the gap intill it was thin enough to bend open with fingernails. seemed to work quite well and whiffing a lighter over the area got rid of the little bit of serving fuzz it created.

and they work really well, just try to get some pliers that are quite thick, like the ones from quicks. Makes a smoother finish.

i think i might save my pennies since i now use dental floss believing that brass knocking points really suck up speed and generally rip my index finger appart.
