Tuning - space limitation

Advice wanted guys. I need to tune my new Apex. As it is indoor season, I can't do that on the two club nights (two hours twice a week and very busy). At home, I can shoot 10 yards (in the garden) or 3-4 yards (garage) depending on weather. Walk back tuning seems to be out. What would you advice on best compromise. Shall I stick to paper tunning at short distance?

Steve

If the garden is safe, the 10yds is better.Stand behind the bow to get a visual check on centre shot. Bare shafts to get the nocking point right first.Use the bare shafts to get an indication of how stiff/weak the arrows are for the bow. Speed up the bow if arrows are stiff.
The arrows may group left or right of the aimed mark. If the sight is directly above the arrow, you may try changing spring settings on the button to get rid of the right/left impacts.
It might be worth testing for contact between fletchings and the rest.
When that is done, you might want to look at a paper test to see what the effects look like; just out of curiosity.

Knock it roughly into shape in the back garden (nocking point & button pressure), then take it to the club night & shoot as usual, but with bare & fletched shafts. Tweak as needed in between ends (or sit out alternate ends & make the changes).
That's what I did - I was using 2016s last indoor season, now somewhat shortened ACE 620s.

Isn't the best limited space method the shooting down a vertical line marked on your target adjusting launcher position until you are consistently hitting the line, and shooting at a horizontal line adjusting nocking point again until all arrows are hitting the line, Perhaps I should of stated that you should do nocking point first.

Thanks you all. This afternnon the weather was kind to me so I used the vertical / horizontal line method at 10 yards in the garden. I have to build a frame to do the paper test so I will have to repeat the process at a later date. How do you fix a picture frame to a tripod?

Last question: can someone recommend a white / coloured spary to test for fletch clearance.

Cheers.

Steve

Go to your local chemist & claim to have athlete's foot. The spray treatments for this work fine for testing fletchings.

paper test

you could try putting your paper frame in a black and decker workmate.

paper test

Also if you make the frame for the paper test 20" in overall width you can use a cheap roll of wallpaper(21" wide) for your testing.

To fix a picture frame to a tripod, you could use the spring clamps that can be bought from places like B&Q.
