| To Quadratus ... and not to be taken literally : A shepherd was with his herd and he suddenly saw a huge Range Rover coming his way. Out steps a young man in an Armani suit, Gucci shoes, Ray-Ban glasses and a Hermès tie. He tells the shepherd: If I tell you how many sheep you have will you give one? Sure! Replies the shepherd. The Range Rover owner then pulls out a portable computer, connects it to his mobile phone, connects to the Internet and gets onto a NASA database, connects to a GPS, scans the area, opens tens of Excel files with complex calculations and prints out a ten-page report. He then tells the shepherd : You have exactly 1596 sheep. The shepherd then says : That is completely exact. As agreed, take one. The shepherd then looks on as the young man chooses one beast and puts it in the back of the Range Rover. The shepherd then adds : If I tell you what your occupation is, would you give back my beast? Yes, sure, responds the cheeky young man. You are an engineer says the shepherd. You are completely right says the engineer. How did you guess? You step here unasked. You want to be paid for an answer I already know and you obviously know nothing about my occupation. Now give me my dog back! Conclusion : - some can use the information - some do not want to use the information - some want the information - some do not want information - anyhow the information is there and can be used Cheers |

| Hi again Thanks to all for their input on this. It really has helped me clarify WHY we do walkbacks/ bareshafts etc. As I said before, it is important (for me anyway) to be able to understand the reasoning behind these tests, rather than blindly follow the process. At least now I can make my choices based on a basic understanding of the principles rather than by reading a book and just following the instructions. Thanks again Andrew
