Beginners course for field archery

Assuming it is required, which I think it is? Do persons new to archery have to undergo a beginners course to join a GNAS/SAA field archery club? If yes, is there a particular format for field archery beginners courses?

For anybody that might be wondering. I was informed today by a reliable and knowledgable source that Beginners courses are not a GNAS requirement full stop.

The beginners course is not mandatory but is really a way of getting people into the sport whilst covered by the insurance. Otherwise until they pay their GNAS membership they are not insured.

Almost all clubs in the United Kingdom are able to arrange a course of six introductory lessons, which cover a basic understanding of technique and disciplines for shooting in safety and with relative accuracy. Most courses will be organised and supervised by qualified GNAS coaches.

Any instruction organised by a GNAS affiliated club that follows recognised procedures is covered by the Society's public liability insurance policy. A charge may be levied for the course of six lessons and nearly always includes the use of basic equipment."
