Sighting your string

Where do people in general sight their string to on the bow.

Ive been currently lining the string up with the sight pin. As you get to full draw the sting is blury the sight pin is on the gold. anchoring on my nose and side of chin.

My string is a way over to the left of the sight ring. I draw to centre of nose and chin, so it's over to the left of the eye that is sighting. If I drew to side of face, which I was thinking of changing to, then I'd expect it to appear more central.

My string blur ends just to the right of the sight ring. It is there because it appears there when I am nicely in line and at full draw, not beyond. As the blur ends at the ring, with no gaps, it is easy to "see" that it is repeating without spending much effort looking away from the gold to check.

String is just off to the right of the pin. The edge of the string inline with the outer edge of the ring.

I have my string down the middle of the sight window (and hence sight ring) - never caused me a problem. Bear in mind though - when you go outdoors you may need to adjust windage, and hence your pin will be further left/right than currently. Trying to line up your string with the pin in these circumstances would throw you right off. Therefore you need to note a point on the actual riser your string lines up with , as a second reference.

Neo, archery is a very individual sport. Ultimately, the best method is what works for you.

If I recall correctly, you are relatively new to archery? If so, then I guess you are shooting the shorter distances at the moment. The only potential problem I can see is that when you get to shooting 80 and 100yards, the target itself appears much smaller. At that point, your string blur may well obscure a large part of the target, and you may not be able to see the gold at all. I'd suggest trying it out; not necessarily shooting, but at least draw up on a boss at 100 yards and see how much you can see. If it is obviously going to be a problem then it might be an idea to change now. Difficult as it may seem, it will be easier than changing in another year or so when habits are so much more ingrained.

If it doesn't appear to be a problem, then stick with what works!

I can't turn my head that far so I look over the bridge of my nose I find that keeps the string just on the right side of the sight ring. Try not turning your head so far round, that way when you get old an kn******d like me you won't have to change.

But it is necessary to be consistent. if you line up on the side of the riser then the effect of the windage adjustment willbe less than if you line up on a point related to the pin (I think!)

Hmm, not sure...probably yes, the effects would be greater. I was thinking more of the effect on alignment/form
