| Agreed! I never have been, and never will be a speed demon on a push-bike. Long slow miles are my thing (typical touring mentality, lol). Kae. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I've been speaking to some high level archers and coaches over the last few months (but not asked them to coach me full time as i'm just not comfortable enough with them) and swimming has come up in every single one minaly for this reason: Swimming exercises the most muscles groups out of any type of exercise, and is particually useful for archers who are just strong enough for the current poundage that they shoot (which i feel i fall into), if your doing say 50 lengths twcie a week then it helps tone all the muscle groups and increases Cardio-Vascular endurance

| If you like the bike then stick on it - you should do the rides three times a week to see bigger and faster benefits. You can increase the miles a bit when ready but don't push it too soon - unless you are already quite fit. If you don't have time to do longer distances then time yourself and increase the speed rather than distance. Many runners and cyclists do speed training to build stamina and fitness. What I'm saying is that you can bike 20 miles three times a week but if you are doing it slowly then you'll not improve stamina accordingly. All about sustained heart rate really and how much you are pushing yourself. Enjoy it and don't worry too much. |
