Arrows drifting left with distance

Hi,

When I was trying to get sightmarks for targets, I noticed that as the distance increased I needed to move my sight ring further out to the left to keep the arrows hitting the target.

This would seem to indicate that my arrows are drifting to the left. I shoot right handed, so what should I be looking at to correct this?

I had my limb alignment and bracing height looked at yesterday, both seemed ok.

Have you done a bareshaft tune? If yes and your arrows tune fine, are you bringing your sightbar in for the further distances? If it is bent it could account for the shift.

I've not tried bare shafts yet. The sightbar has remained fully out so far. I have only shot 20, 30 and 50 yards.

Your pressure button might be a little to strong, perhaps you could try lowering the spring tension a little.

I had the same problem when I first shot 50 meters but problem solved after reducing the spring tension. Your best bet however is to tune with bare shafts etc for perfection, a tedious process but well worth it.

Time to bite the bullet and do a bareshaft tune! Tuning becomes much more critical outdoors, as does everything else. Sounds like your arrows are a little on the stiff side at the moment.

My groups aren't really tight enough for fine tuning, just after general correction for now.

The wind was pretty still, maybe blowing from behind me slightly but no cross winds.

I have a cartel button, how would I adjust the spring tension?

If you're using the basic cartel button as am I, the first thing you need to do is to loosen the second hole from the second collar(the one with 2 holes for adjustment) with a small allen key.

After that, use the big allen key and slot it into the hole behind the collar and turn it a couple of rounds counterclockwise. This should loosen the spring tension a little, have a feel to be sure.

Retighten the second hole on the second collar and you're ready to shoot

There's also the issue that you appear from your journal to have just changed tabs. Whenever I change tab faces the groups always shift to the left until they're broken in properly...

I've not shot using the new tab yet, but I'll bear that in mind.
