| Course Completion While this thread is going, on a rtelated matter, should you get a certificate when you have completed your course or not? I did my basic training with a club, joined them, but now want to move on to a club that suits my needs better and the new club are asking me to bring a certificate of course completion.

| I thought everybody got a temp sticker on the card when they joined, or do all clubs not do this. I know I have a stash of GNAS cards availbale for new members, which I get from our county secretary.

| It is entirely up to a club whether they issue certificates or not, as its not an "Official" requirement. Perhaps you could ask the secretary of the Club you attended to write and sign a short statement to the effect that you attended x days training? A SVL says a GNAS card should suffice when approaching another Club. By the time someone gets around to paying their GNAS fees they will at least the very least one would hope have the basics on safety, shooting and etiquette.

| Thanks for the responses, I will ask for a temporary card on Friday, as I have already paid my GNAS subscription.

| The SAA of course invents their own rules and the membership secretary keeps them all rather than issuing them to the clubs as per GNAS instructions. Colin | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

It ensures all new members actually get a temporary card and a number with the minimum of fuss and SAA has a central record of everyone and their numbers. When GNAS started the temporary card scheme I was my County' s Membership secretaryand Clubs were always having to contact me for more batches of labels. It was just easier, quicker and cheaper (on postage) for Ray to get the new affiliations and issue the cards direct to the Club and for him to keep stock of all the blanks.

Since anyone can buy this cd (£5-00 from your favourite GNAS retailer) and print off their own certificates (and for all their mates) it kind of undermines the authenticity of the document. Not that I would accept a certificate as proof of a person's ability to shoot safely with a bow. |
