World Outdoor Champs Germany 2007

Well, I couldn't find another thread on this so I thought I'd better start one.

The (senior) World Archery Championships are currently taking place in Leipzig Germany (7 - 15th July). GBR have archers attending and this event is not only important because its the world champs but also because it is being used to "win" places in the 2008 Olympic games. If a country doesn't do well here they could end up with no representatives at the Olympics.

Details about the event are on the FITA website.FITA Website (It's running pretty slow at the moment).

GBR archers attending are:
Recurve Men
Laurence Godfrey
Simon Terry
Alan Wills

Recurve Women
Charlotte Burgess
Naomi Folkard
Alison Williamson

Compound Men
James Forbes
Liam Grimwood
Chris White

It looks like we have no compound women taking part.

The qualification rounds are currently taking place. Compound happened yesterday (Sunday), recurve women is today (Monday), and recurve men takes place tomorrow (Tuesday). Results from the compound are:
Compound Men
Top score, Rodger Willett (USA) 1391.
139 competitors taking part.
GB Archers
27. James Forbes 1364
28. Liam Grimwood 1363
46. Chris White 1351

So I think this means they all make the cut for the head 2 heads.

Compound Women
Top score, Erika Anschutz (USA) 1408
73 competitors taking part.

Thumbs up Good Luck to Erica!

I hope I've got this right! I'm pretty sure that Erica, a member of AIUK, is taking part in the world champs, representing Australia in the Compound Women.

She's qualified 28th with a score of 1363 Great shooting Erika, keep it up and I hope it goes well in the Head to Heads.

Yes that is AIUK's Erika there. She had a really good 50m (340, 7th best of the women) to jump her up quite a few places. Tough field though, 5 women shot 1363.
Matchplay in on Wednesday their time.

Aaaaaagh! There's ugly pictures of me in there!!! There's rules about posting ugly photos!!!!

It's cold here! But the wind has given us a break so far. The butts are strammit and I've been cursing its invention for the past week.

The food is here is okay and if it wasn't for lactose intolerance, I'd be the size of a house... as it is all of the food is full of cream and butter and I'm starving!!!

Ingrid Oloffson was on my target. She really shot well (359 @ 30m). I was happy with 50m and we shall not speak of the rest. Pat Coughlan's release aid had a malfunction at 30m dropping him from 2nd to 9th(?).

Hi Erica,
well done on the 50m Thanks for letting us know what's going on. It makes it much more interesting to hear all about the conditions, the place in general and the way things are going.

Are there many Bowtech Guardians being shot there, or are you the only person using one?

(Haven't had a chance to check out all the photos yet, but I'm sure there aren't really any ugly ones there)

I've seen one other Guardian and a few other bowtechs. And the usual of Hoyt and Matthews.

It looks like the girls have finished now.
8 FOLKARD Naomi 325 / 16 338 / 7 329 / 17 354 / 5 72 29 1346
23 WILLIAMSON Alison 320 / 26 323 / 48 328 / 19 351 / 13 60 23 1322
24 BURGESS Charlotte 322 / 22 329 / 24 319 / 43 350 / 16 61 27 1320
Those are some big scores from the British ladies! Naomi's score is (IIRC) a competition PB for her and only one point behind Alison's British record. Charlotte seems to have regained some good form and shot really consistently all day!

Natalia Valeeva from Italy managed to set a new European record with 1369. This may well be the highest recurve score ever from a non-Asian archer! Good going!
