Invitation to AIUK: World Indoor Archery Challenge

In July 2008 we will again be holding our World Indoor Archery Challenge.
This is an event that is organised in Australia but aimed at running a massive world wide indoor tournament coordinated via the internet.
This is not a postal shoot, rather it's an event where venues are connected around the world via the net all inputting scores at the same time.
Here is the website for it
World Indoor Archery Challenge 2008

Last year we had 667 entries spanning 3 countries. This year we are hoping to expand on that.

To shoot in it you would need to run an indoor competition on the 26th of July 2008 and run to FITA standard (we would prefer FITA registered). Ideally an internet connection would be great so you can enter scores during the rounds.
Cost is $5USD per archer and organisers can charge more as they require.

Our aim to get over 1000 entries from around the world this year and it would be great to see AIUK take part.

Could be possible, we're running the SCoCo FITA in Oban on the 26th July

Is that Indoor or Outdoor?
Also I would accept it to be run on the 25th (Friday night) if need be,

Oh bum, missed the 'indoor' bit... SCoCo's going to be an outdoor FITA - I'll see what we can sort out

Let me know what you can do and I'll work on things at this end as well.
It's not the right time of year for you guys, so I know it can be tough.

I *would* have been up for this, but I'm doing the Andover FITA Star that weekend.

I think you might have your work cut out here Marcus, doing an indoor shoot in the middle of summer will be difficult for a lot of us in the northern hemisphere. My club, for instance, wont have access to our indoor shooting venue as we only hire it through the winter. I suspect quite a few clubs will be the same.

I assume we're talking a FITA 18? Would you allow it to be shot outdoors?

yep, mine is the same. i don't think anyone here would want to shoot indoors in july, especially if it's lovely out. pouring with rain, perhaps.

There must be some clubs who have 24/7 indoor facilities that could host a competition on behalf of AIUK?

We were at Trackside at Caistor nr Grimsby yesterday which has a nice indoor setup. After last summer it might be a relief to get inside for a shoot

Yeah it will be tough, but worth trying.
If for example a club runs a Wednesday night indoor and wants to run it then I am open to that.
Outdoors will be fine, but it must be run with timing and a judge.
It would be worth the effort, it's all managed live so you will enjoy it. Having the FITA clash though is a killer.

I have to doff my cap to the idea Marcus. It could potentially be the biggest shoot in the world. But the main Target market I know off is all Nothern Hemisphere and we will all be out doors shooting 90mts working on our tan's. But then I guess you realise that already. What if I did it at home and I was the Judge as well would that count?
