jammed - if you are confident to shoot at 70 then try it!! I started shooting the last week in May last year, we competed in a Western (60 & 50 yds) in June and Wakefield (Albion - 80, 60 & 50), I bellieve was in July. I entered, I competed and I even made it onto the leader board after the 80 yard round!!

I haven't looked back and it was great fun trying. I remember the 1st time I shot at 80 yards with TJ - we spent ages looking for arrows in the ground!!

The problem is that if you want to get into the rankings then you have to shoot at least two 70m head to head rounds. The ideal solution (and they do this at the GNAS PREMIER EVENT) is to let all competitors go through to the h2h round and give byes to the top seeded archers

I agree if you pay for double that's what you expect, however if the entry form tells you the shoot is a H2H then you are not paying for a double, you are paying for a 720 and H2H. Try one, you might enjoy it, I know I do it provides a different experience to that of 'normal' 12 doz FITA shoots.

Would it perhaps make sense to have a head to head first so that everyone hangs around to see the results and shoot in the afternoon? Or do the results of the 720 affect who starts where in the head to head?

Thats right Merlin The ranking in the 720 decides who plays who in the H to H. Usually 32nd against 1st, 31st against 2nd etc. in the first round.

It's the week before the Bronte Double FITA. Might try and come over to the Dark Side of the Pennines. Should be good practice and good fun.
