| Wouldn't it depend on the judge/officials.........if you had hard liners there then you might end up with a very quiet competition.......

| Personally, I go to a tournament to shoot, not to pick a fight with Judges, or for aggrovation, or to make a political statement to the ruling elite. Think also about the Judges - they give their time freely to observe and apply the rules of shooting as democratically agreed through the national body. (OK we can all argue about just how democratic the GNAS is, but that is not the point). They don't come along to deal with general insurrection from a mass of competitors. If we don't like the current rules and there is enough support from the majority of archers for a change (and it would seem that a lot of archers are OK with the current state of affairs), then change will come through discussion and agreement, not through open rebellion.

| Whait a minute! Throwing away the GNAS Dress regs is just childish unless you have something better to put in their place. Turning up at a shoot dressed like a set of weirdos wont impress anyone and will not achieve the objective. . Every organised sport has a dress code without which everything will be reduced to the lowest common denominator. If we want our shooting lines to look like the queue at the JobCentre well fine but i dont. | |||||||||||||

| Better to raise a motion to change the rules, then turn up in force at the AGM to vote for it. Frankly though, the number of people who actually go to competitions is such a small minority of the overall membership that it would probably fall on deaf ears anyway. Personally speaking though, I like the club tops idea, and I've no aversion to green or white trousers. What I REALLY have an issue with is giving judges the right to decide what IS and IS NOT dark green, although some people definitely take the p*** with the rules. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Also, how many of judges make the rules?? You might see a dip in the amount of people willing to give up their time if they thought their day was going to start with all that hassle! ![]()

| Of course, this is all hypothetical. It is just a way that people could actually do something about a dress code which they are unhappy with, rather than just whinging about it from their computers. The replies so far makes it seem that people aren't that unhappy with the dress code, if they aren't willing to do anything about it. Murray - Do you know how to raise a motion? I understand the concept but, once again, GNAS hardly give a plethora of information when it comes to actually doing something like that. | |||||||||||||||||
