Why has the ladies team got Lana rather than Charlotte in? If they swapped they'd have qualified 2nd!

Only one American and no Koreans tends to dilute the field a bit.

I must admit that I didn't even know this was on. Glad to see GNAS are improving their promotion of international shooting...

Good to see Barnzy's name up there again - lets hope he sticks with it.

Well, that was suitably unimpressive on the part of the British team.
The ladies recurve are into the bronze medal match.

That's it!

Maybe for next time you could shoot good enough scores to be picked, and be "impressive". It's always easy to be critical of someone elses performance, but you don't know what the situation is. Personally I prefer to think they all did what they could, some of them would be pleased with their performance, others maybe disappointed, bit like us all, good days and bad days and all that.

Look forward to seeing your name on the leader board.

Liz

By the way, I found the link to the website easily on GNAS, look under performance,

Strangely, shooting scores that beat GB archers doesn't mean you'll get picked. I've beaten GB archers at tournaments on a number of occasions... but I've never been picked. The system is a catch 22. After reading through the selection guidelines, it seems there is only one way to be picked for these tournaments. The archers that attend are chosen from those on the WCPP. The way to get on the WCPP is to have a world ranking in the top 50 (if you follow the guidelines, which they seem to be doing more and more these days). The only way to get a world ranking is to attend world ranking events, namely grand prix events. The only way to attend these is to be selected from the WCPP squad... you see my point. As far as I can gather, there is only one way into the WCPP: qualify for the World Archery Championships/Olympics selection shoot, make it through the "new" selection procedure that has been put in place, and do well enough at either to get your world ranking in the top 50.

And I think sending 13 archers to a European Grand Prix deserves more mention than a tiny, one line link (without dates) on the Performance page of the website. No mention of it in the "News" section. Go figure.

So, you don't like/agree with the way things are done, fair enough. If you choose not to follow the system, don't criticise others who have, go figure.

It's good to see that GNAS have now added an entry for this tournament (when I started the thread there wasn't anything there). The names of archers and the website for the competition is exactly the sort of thing I think we need to see.

It's a shame that the GB team didn't quite make it to the podium for a medal or two. But I'm sure they tried their best and it's great to see us sending significant numbers of archers to these events. Hopefully it will give more archers a chance to represent GB and gain experience in these types of events.
