2006 Nimes European Indoor Tournament

The 9th European Indoor Tournament will be held January 27-28-29 January 2006 in Nimes (France).

For those who don't know this tourney, it has been organized for 8 years now by the Nimes Archery Club who has also organized the 2003 FITA World Indoor Championships ... and for those who love history Nimes is built around a wonderfull ancient roman town locaded in the south of France about 20km from the Mediterranean sea ...

The tourney is based on a FITA 1 format with OR (plus a team tourney) which allows Individual World Records (one or two are broken each year). National Records depend on your Federation rules about aboard shoots. No national ranking or resume' are needed to attend this tourney, but to give you an idea of the scores last year results are still available on the ACDN web site. Last year non late fee was 40 euros.

New interesting fact : a new principal, secondary and team tournament for junior recurve archers !

There is a little airport south of Nimes with low cost flights from/to around London.
Shuttle service to/from Nimes station yes, to/from Nimes airport to be verified with the organization.
Shuttle service between the venues and some of the hotels (medium prices are about 55 euros night and breakfast asking for "week-end prices" ) of the tourney : yes (use to be specified on the full program)

Please note that if you decide to attend this tourney you'll have to register early, last year all 700 spots had been sold mid-December and many archers where yet on the waiting list.

I was there ! It was so wonderfull ! So much archers (1019 if I'm right) coming from all around the planet !
Really big stars of archery where there and the show was fantastic! As for myself, I did a very poor shooting at the qualifications. However, for less talented archers as me, there was the secondary tournament. I made a really good effort at that time and did 2° in my group. So, I'm really happy!! ^^ but much happier to have met more archers and to have seen again remote friends!! ^^

Sounds a lot of fun, I'm very tempted but I think I need to get better first. LMP, here's a challenge for you! Nimes...

Also, I wonder how the airlines are these days with bows on the plane?

Nimes is a club competion as much as individual archers. If a club can put 4 reasonable archers together then an amazing event. Current GB representation currently basically zero .

No problem with planes at all ! Archers came from US, Morocco, Germany, Spain, UK, etc. using planes.
I heard only that an archer had to reset completely her compound bow because of the customs that inspected roughly her case...
