West Midlands Regional Inter Counties Shoot, Lilleshall

Was anyone at this on Sunday (08/10/06) ?

I shot terrible all day, don't think I have shot a FITA with such a low score in 3-4 years. I can't really blame it on the conditions but I was freezing cold all day and the wind didn't help me.

I was just wondering how others got on? Which County did you shoot for?

Oh and who won overall? I had to get back so I was unable to wait for the results.

NoAngel,

Well you know I was there, because we talked. There were a few others that I know are on AIUK, but I got a hint of a few others, that I did not get a chance to identify. Perhaps they will admit to it....

Apologies if I have remembered any of these wrong, and for those I forgot, this was my first ever county shoot, so was just enjoying the atmosphere. I hope the results wil be available soon.

JanXXX (Worcs) came second in Ladies Compound.

I believe Portsmouth495L/B won the Gents long bow (I believe also for Worcestershire). Sorry can't remember other long bow results

Team results, partial, because I was too knackered to try and remember them all..
Recurve:
1st - Shropshire
2nd - Warwickshire
3rd - Worcestershire
4th - Staffordshire
5th Herfrodshire

Compound
1st - Worcestershire
.....

Longbow
1st - Worcestershire

Anybody else knows better, please feel free to correct....

I let go of my final 12 dozen arrows of the year there yesterday.

I'm glad I went really as Shropshire won the recurve team trophy for the first time and I shot my highest 70m score since 1991 (326).

Unfortunately, the wind blew so bad at 30m, I scored less than at 70m (doh!)

Still, back into my cave for the winter.... somebody wake me up in the spring.

Ah....one of the people who I suspected.

Good shooting, and congratulations on the shooting.

Congrats also to Shropshire. Nice to see someone wrest the recurve title from Warwickshire....only wish it could have been us. Maybe next year?

Well we have a lot of promising archers in the County, I am hoping that I will make the team next you to, I would like to try and make amends for my poor excuse at a FITA from the day.

Perhaps I need to talk to dave to see if I can buy an AIUK flag. Could then put it up at shoots as a meeting point....

Well done P495L/B. When I heard the score I was thinking it must be in the vicinity of Bowman. It was nice to see such a full longbow contingent from Worcestershire.

I had thought about making some remark about Longbow archers being real men wearing just tee-shirts, but that would be rude to the female long bow archers. Perhaps I could settle on "real archers", but then that would be rude to everyone else... oh well. Perhaps I should just say it is good to see there is someone as daft as me (who shot the whole of the previous Sunday at Meriden in the pi**ing rain in just a tee-shirt!!)

I have been to a number of FITAs throughout this year and Sunday was the first time I have seen longbowmen (and women) taking part, i thought it was a nice addition to the shooting line.

The weather wasn't idea, and 30m when the wind picked up was especially tricky.

I thought it was sad that a number of the medalists did not recieve any medal at all, I can understand that the medals they were handing out were expensive and that the 'medalists' who did not medals have already won one in the past, but if you were to win your regional shoot, you would like something to remember the occasion by even if it is a less expensive medal.

What are peoples thought?

P.S. This is my first post, so hello.
