Yeah, I've been a bit slow off the mark, lost track of how far we are into the year, I keep thinking it's still early Feb for some strange reason... I even dated a cheque a month previous the other day, doh.

What about looking outside of Wales a bit for a challenge?

Choices: big fish in small pond, or small fish in big pond growing into big fish in big pond. It's not so much about "chasing high level scores" so much as broadening your experience as an archer.

There's much more to life than a red shirt, and lots of great shoots out over the Severn..... with lots of very good archers to watch and learn from. Me, I like doing the shoots where there's lots of archers much better than me as I learn much more that way. Besides, FITAs is where it's at, and there ain't many of those in Wales- a FITA 70 for the Welsh, the Pembrey and NWAS shoots plus the Euronations. Whereas if you shoot in England you can enter a FITA events (FITA Starr and FITA 70/H2Hs) pretty much once a fortnight (or even once a week if you've got the stamina!). I'll have the calendar of events I've compiled with me on Sunday if you want to see what's on- remember, NDY did emphasise a couple of Squad sessions back the value of shooting out of region.

Some of these events are easier to get to than Welsh ones too- like the Welsh is I gather down in Newcastle Emlyn- whereas in Llandod you're quite well placed to head East- I worked in Llandod for 4 years so I do know the road network around there pretty well.

Sometimes you have to put aside local glory for longer-term experience and foundational stuff that makes you a better archer in the long-term IMO. Nothing like being on the big boys' circuit and seeing how much better the competition is to get you motivated to do the work...
