An unpromising start at Aire Valley. Shortly before shooting started, we had a viciously heavy shower. Waterproofs were on and everyone was muttering "Flaming hell, not again." Then the rain stopped and...didn't come back! A miracle!

We did have another unwelcome visitation from a load of f***ballers who expected us to shift the targets and ourselves out of the way so they could have a kickabout. There must have been a dozen places within a two mile radius where they could do that, but they had to pick our field. Off they went with a flea in their collective ear.

It was a good shoot with a great atmosphere. Loads of people, including me, shot better than they have done for ages. I scored 660 - not great, but way above recent form.

I also got back into my stride on the raffle:



Thanks to Aire Valley for an excellent shoot. And best wishes to Lady P Danielle Brown for Paralympic gold in Beijing.

Very much enjoyed this shoot. This was the first tournament I'd ever driven to on my own (passed my test February this year), so a very big experience for me . As for the shooting, could have gone better. Should really practice at 50 yards as that's where I lost most of the points! Really good shoot and thank you to AVA for a great tourney.
