Yorkshire: The Wakefield Archers

www.thewakefieldarchers.co.uk

In the Summer between April and September The Wakefield Archers shoot on the playing fields at Slazengers Sports Club, Horbury, Wakefield and in the Winter between September and April they shoot at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School QEGS, Wakefield.

We run three of our own Tournaments: Indoor Record Status Portsmouth in January, Albion in July and the Pomfret 60 Longbow Tournament in the grounds of Pontefract Castle in September.

We also host two major indoor tournaments: The Yorkshire Archery Association Indoor Championships in March and The Northern Counties Archery Society Indoor Championships in November.

RE: Yorkshire: The Wakefield Archers

Yup, Little Miss Purple and her partner have drafted me, so there'll be a team from the Phoenix Bowmen of Halifax. This will be my first tournament since I got back into archery in Feb 2004 after 12 years out. Tin hats at the ready, keep the cats indoors...

RE: Yorkshire: The Wakefield Archers

See you all there then, if I can sort out my cracked riser grip and limb mountings in time.

I'll also have to make sure I've got a spare finger sling, as LMP is sure to nab my PURPLE one when she sees it.

RE: Yorkshire: The Wakefield Archers

I guess after a statement like that I'll have to make sure I pinch your PURPLE finger thingy!!!

I'm just making the numbers up as I'm struggling to see 100% at 80 yds, but hey - what the hell...

Woo, I'm on target one! That's handy -- less likely to shoot at someone else's target.

RE: Yorkshire: The Wakefield Archers

I'm just trying to work out which target Mick is on!!! His finger thingy might be safe though as I've got a purple finger thingy too (if they are the same thing - and I'm not too keen on it).

I'm just going for the lunch, still not too sure I can see the target all that well at 80 yds, it doesn't seem to matter what I try (shorter longrod, heavier poundage, new sight....).

I'm sure it will come in time, after all what is 4 months in the time scale of archery?!

RE: Yorkshire: The Wakefield Archers

The people of Wakefield can come out from under the tables -- I've finished shooting.

The Wakefield Albion was today, and very nice it was, too. Congratulations to the Wakefield Archers for putting on an excellent tournament and a darn good lasagne. And as for the free cake...I'd better not say, it would only upset Clicky and Dave.

Nice to meet Morphymick -- hopefully see you again at the Harvesters shoot in Doncaster.

RE: Yorkshire: The Wakefield Archers

Here! Here! Splendid show, what?

And just in case Dave and Clicky do read this, let it be known that LMP ate most of them. (Well at least one lovely looking scone with jam and cream).

Also caught LMP eyeing up the water-bottle of a guy on the next target to her.
Guess what colour it was.

Managed to come away with my purple finger thingy still attached.

Great meeting you guys, see you in Donny on the 7 Aug.
