This tournament has always been held on this bank holiday weekend as they always had a second days shooting on Monday, it hasnt been moved, Thirsk moved from 23/24th last year to the bank holiday this year, which is a shame as it was a nice way to start the outdoors.

I had a bash at this sapling-based longbow I was threatening, and hacked a sycamore sapling into a pretty convincing longbow shape. But the thing broke when I tried to tiller it -- it just softly folded and slowly broke apart 10" from the top limb tip. I'm pretty sure I hadn't cut a "hinge" there, so it was probably a diseased one. And sycamore might have been a bit light anyway. Oh well, might have another try if I get time this week.
