I was half-expecting to do OK at the Bronte shoot because my new outdoor setup -- Axis with G3s and Beiter button -- has been shooting beautifully. Everyone who's had a go on it was impressed with how sweetly it shot. So today I went up to Aire Valley's St Ives site to get some sight marks and -- it shot like ars*. I don't know what I've done wrong, but it was utterly crap. Only 2 out of 6 shot were hitting at 80 yards, and I didn't even attempt 100 yards.

So it's panic stations for me. And I won't get another chance to shoot now until the day before the Bronte tourney. Unless I throw a sickie...

Have you checked all the equipment things, like nocking point in the right place? Were they just not making it or not grouping?

Arrows were all over the place. Mystery, I'm afraid. One thing I noticed is that the bracing height had dropped by a centimetre, even though I'm sure the string's fine and I haven't untwisted it. I'm hoping it's not a limb fault... They're under warranty, but I can do without the hassle.

There's a practice session at Bronte on Saturday. I'll try out the Axis+G3s again at that. If still no joy, I'll use the Toutall+Challenger Craft -- at least it's consistent, even if it struggles at 100 yards.

Practice will be available once field setup is complete on the Saturday, so probably late afternoon.

The field party would rather not have to dodge arrows during setup!

You are supposed to buy their raffle tickets - not take your own

By the sound of it we will have to keep a close eye on the raffle ticket serial numbers!

spent the day at Bronte today.....and learned how to shoot properly!!! I have used muscles consistantly today that I didn't know existed!! It was blowing a gale (normal for Bronte) so we sloped off to the corner of the field where it was sheltered!!! At least I've got sight marks - I just need to practice this new technique!!! oh, and keep my mouth shut and not move my jaw

One suspects that the latter might be difficult, eh? (Just practicing my Canadian for Monday ... everything ends in "Eh?")
