RE: Barnsley - Sunday 25/09/05

Not me.

I'll be busy traipsing through the woods, just down the road at High Melton, at the YAA Field Championships.

Only trouble is, I don't think we hold a raffle. (Thinks... must organise one for myself)

Good shooting LMP.

Yup, I'll be there. I'd like to have gone to the field shoot at Dearne Valley, but it's 14 years since I last shot field (including a 12 year gap of not doing archery at all).

Last outdoor tourney of the year for me -- better make it a good one...

RE: Barnsley - Sunday 25/09/05

Nice shoot at Barnsley -- a bit windy down by the targets, but very sunny. Some confusion because one of my target mates, Gayle Cogan of Spen Victoria, had the same blue-and-white fletching scheme as me, as did a guy from Wakefield on the target next door. And I thought mine was so distinctive...

Unfortunately, I was walloped in the raffle by Little Miss Purple -- she won a bottle of purple-tinged bubble bath and I won nowt. I know why, of course -- the raffle was held indoors, and I only practiced for outdoors. Next time...

I did, however, win my first shooting-related prize in a long time:

This was for "best white". I got it on my first end at 50 yards, scoring 9-5-1-1-1-miss! One of the 1s was closer to the black than anyone else's so this magnificent prize was bestowed upon me. For overseas readers, Tesco Value is the UK's premier brand of luxury goods.

RE: Barnsley - Sunday 25/09/05

Winning is all about preparation TJ.

For instance, last weeks raffle at Chantry was indoor, but as I knew we'd be retiring to the Clubhouse after the shoot... Well, it just goes to show.

Preparation! Preparation! Preparation!

Oh, and buying enough tickets to narrow the odds

At least you prepared for the 'best white'. Get enough in there and you're bound to win. Same with the raffles!

Take note for next time. I'll be asking questions.

Mick

We'll be there with both the kids. In fact Spen Valley should have a good turnout.

See you there LMP - and all the rest of you. Theres a heavy contingent from Bronte coming. Looking forward very much to what will probably be one of the last local Outdoor tournamernts this year.
