Clubs around Carrickfergus

Anyone got any comments on clubs in the Carrick area? From what I can see there's Carrickfergus itself, Larne and Muckamore. Anyone have any experience of these clubs? Or even heard anything about them?

I have heard that there is an archery club in Larne - but that's all I heard about it. I've also heard that Larne was voted the most depressing place in N.Ireland!!

Don't have any direct experience of the clubs you mentioned, but I was given a Northern Ireland Archery Society Events Calender when I competed at the NI Indoor Champs earlier this year. It has up-to-date contact details for the clubs. Drop me a PM if you want any of the contact details. They are more current and detailed than I found on the NIAS website.

May also be worth checking out http://www.sixgolds.com

Thumbs up Lively Larne

I can more than vouch for the Larne Club as I'm the current secretary and a founder member. We've been on the go since September 2003 and since then have gone from strength to strength. We currently have 3 NI Champions and 1 all Ireland Champion among our members and a membership of 30+ including all ages from 7 and over, all abilities, and most bow styles.

You are more than welcome to come and see us on a Friday night from 7pm - 9pm in Larne Leisure Centre or at our brand spanking new outdoor facilities at Larne Rugby Football Club on a Sunday from 2pm - 4pm. We also run "have a go" sessions and beginner's courses throughout the year.

To describe the club and members, we are young(ish), lively and sociable, and hold lots of fun events regularly. Check out our website at www.larnearcheryclub.com for more information.

Vickie - Maybe you should visit Larne sometime to make your own mind up about the town. Even if you do find it depressing, it has absolutely no reflection on Larne Archery Club.

I don't find Larne depressing. I've been many many many times before and I'm sure I'll be visiting again.

Hi there Brenda

Just curious what your target fees are for visitors from other GNAS clubs. I have family in larne and in the past when visiting have never heard of a club, mind you in saying that my uncle did say there was a parish church somewhere nearby that did archery for all the old folks. Anyhow good to know that theres a club there.

Hi

Our current target fees for members and guests are £4 for adults to shoot once a week and £6 for adults to shoot twice a week. This would be for a Friday night shoot in Larne Leisure Centre and a Sunday afternoon shoot at the Larne Rugby Football Club. For juniors it is £3 for once a week and £4 for twice a week.

Friday - Larne Leisure Centre - 7pm-9pm
Sunday - Larne Rugby Football Club, Glynn Village - 2pm-4pm (summer season only)

We welcome all visitors to our club, but would ask that you ensure that you bring your GNAS membership card with you.

Hope to see you next time you're in Larne.

Brenda

Okay, slightly different question...
How about clubs in Belfast itself? I'm thinking about weekday evening shooting here... not weekends. Any personal experience or even hearsay would be appreciated.

I've now found links to the NI Civil Service club and City of Belfast... Any others?
