| Welcome to the family Jim.. I would suggest you contact your local club and take a beginners course. If nothing else, they will be able to ensure that you have a good grounding in shooting and should be able to advise you on what equipment will suit you both best and what you need to shoot safely in your barn. Whatever route you take, shoot well. T.

| Hello and welcome. I wish I had a 25 metre long barn to practice in... Tarkwin is spot on, the best thing to do is do a beginners course at your local club. They'll teach you how to shoot safely and well, then you can practice at home as you wish, and attend the club when you can.

| Hi there and welcome! A beginner's course is definitely a must, both for you and your son. You might not realise it, but archery uses muscles that don't get much use otherwise, and incorrect technique can cause pain, and sometimes lasting damage. Also, you won't be able to shoot at any club until you have completed a beginners course - this because of the safety aspect. They are generally one weekend morning for between four and six weeks, and besides learning correct basic technique and safety, you will learn about different forms of archery, be loaned kit for the duration of the course, and get practical advice about what sort of kit you should eventually buy.

| Thanks for the welcomes and the advice, I'm just heading out now to visit what appears to be the only local dedicated archery shop / range and enquire about courses. I'll let you know how I get on!! Jim |
