| Combined Golf Driving Ranges / Outdoor archery ranges As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our club indoor and outdoor facilities, we've got together with our local golf club to build a combined golf driving range/archery range... Going to be something like a dozen 3m-wide covered bays (I reckon you can get two archers per bay, at a push), with a floodlit outfield, catering facilities, and, more importantly toilets (plus, we're hoping to tack a small outdoor/golf shop on the back) The the lion's share of the money's hopefully going to come from an initiative that's been set up by Sportscotland to gets kids into golf, as part of efforts to bring the Ryder Cup to Scotland in 2014. The golfers love it, as there will finally be somewhere on the island where they can perfect their swing, and golf pros can teach golf without beginners hacking the golf course to bits. And of course, we love it, as we're getting our own outdoor range which we can (theoretically) use all year round, irrespective of weather conditions (since we're protected from the elements on the shooting line), at any time of day or night. And since we're the one who came up with the idea, and are putting it in place, we get a say on when we want to use it, and where the money generated from the golf driving range goes... Strikes me that archers and golfers are a perfect partnership - anyone out there tried something similar?
