Now let's face it - if you want pretentious/precocious album covers, then look no further than the artwork of (i think) Roger Dean for many of the Yes album covers. Think he might've done the Uriah Heep ones as well......

Hiya Raedwald,
I've got to admit, in my late teens, I had a soft spot for Roger Deans works and even had a poster of his picture "badgers" on my wall in my first flat (I wanted something different from the tennis lady scratching her bum or some wise comment from Snoopy).
He certainly did do a lot of Yes albums - Topographic Oceans, Relayer etc
Don't know if he did any Heeps, possibly, but he did do some covers for Osibisa and Budgie
I think his work is pretentious, but brilliant and sort of summed up prog rock of the 70's.

Best wishes,
Steve

Hiya Furface,
I know what you mean re. Genesis album covers I take it you refer to Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot, which were weird. Genesis is my favourite band of all time (until Gabriel and Hackett left, then they made some OK popish sort of stuff), but you can probably understand the covers if you saw what Gabriel got upto on stage and listened to the lyrics - as I say weird, but brilliant.
Best wishes,
Steve
