Car in the front garden...

Because OB asked about the car that hit our house this morning here are a few photos. No-one was hurt but a couple of bushes were knocked over, a window-box was destroyed, wall knocked over and the road closed when the crane arrived.

we live at the bottom of a rather sharp S bend on a slope so when it's wet cars often lose control (especially in the last couple of month while the main road is closed). They usually hit the wall of next door, which is renforced concrete and about three feet thick!!

This is actually the third car that ended up in the front garden. One more and we'll have had the entire front wall replaced!! Assuming they hit in the right place!!

Thanks for the time to post the photo's bimble. Quite remarkable really and it does make you wonder just why and how these things happen?

In this case I'll say wet roads, sharp bends and the fact that people are using our road as a rat-run as the main road is closed (for four months while the bridge over the canal is being repaired) instead of the official diversion.

It's a flat, straight bit of road followed by a sharp left/right down a steep slope. If you're not used to it and going too fast, and it's wet....

<edit> we usually average two accidents per month on these curves but since the closure of the main road it's five a month.... </edit>

OMG - it's a good thing he didn't kill any of the garden gnomes!

Why is it that some people seem unable to drive according to the conditions? If the road is shiney in your headlights then it's trying to tell you something!
