I know when I strung my bow for the first time my mental picture had the bow collapsing around me, but thats nothing compared to the sheer terror of the first indoor club shoot having just done my beginners course and trying to remember everything at once ! I dont know about the bow arm dropping when I released but the knocking knees must of had a detrimental effect on the score that night !
