many of the people that I admit my addiction to see genuinely interested in the sport, one even joined me on one occasion to try it out.

There are no bows (that I can recall) in warhammer 40K....warhammer now that's a different thing entirely...I've just proven your argument haven't I?

Much preferred Traveller to AD&D. Far more cerebral and less hack&slay!

Sorry Barry, wasn't having a go. But as an American, I'm overwhelmed by archery ads of busty, scantily clad women selling bows and they probably have no idea how to shoot. Apart from NAA shoots that have a dress code, many 3D and field shoots are anything goes and archery retailers see that as the perfect excuse to parade around a bunch of tarts with bows (usually compounds for the huntin' and bowfishin' types). That then leads to a culture of female shooters who show up in their hotpants and boobtubes. I'm sorry, but I think that brings the sport and the reputation of able women archers down.

Yes, great that archery is seen as cool, but why is it always at the expense of women? Let's make archery cool but not by sexualising it. If we're going down that road, then I want an equal number of ads with well-oiled buff blokes in tight briefs posing with a bow. All's fair in love and archery.

I would roleplay more or less anything..but I did really enjoy Call of Cthulu and the whitewolf World of Darkness games.

I still have a huge collection of RPG source books...getting a little dusty these days, but they represent happy days and I don't want to get rid of them.

Rod Taylor

How about Rod Taylor, he seems to think he fits the mold of hunky guy doing archery. Sadly I think parents wouldn't let their kids attend tournaments if Rod shot. Poor Rod.

Quoting Rod's biographer

"An undeniable aspect of Rod Taylor's popularity rides on his broad shoulders. Square-jawed, muscle-bound and hairy-chested, Rod certainly has had his share of pinup-worthy scenes."

What a man! I wish I was more like rod, now wheres the spare carpet, i fancy making myself a chest rug like rods... I'm also going to the shops to see if I can find a pair of those manly tight shorts, I hear they are very popular this year. Good thing I already have the brylcream of this could start getting expensive!

With AD&D it all depends on the style of the DM. and what tricks he throws at you. My favourites are those who write their own plots and think nothing of rewriting pre written one. Yes there is always the hack and slash option but with these guys you know that you will come out the worse for wear if you take it.They paint a word picture very well, details like the dust coming from the top of the door you are about to kick down, is the door the only thing holding the stone work up? The slight shine on the lamp bracket and the fact that there no webs clinging to it? will it open a secret door ,trigger a trap or is that lamp bracket the favoured place for a monster to put his tourch and he will notice if it is not put back in the same place? These are the things that make you think when playing AD&D.
